- Kathy will give a 90-min Kunqu Opera Movement session to 2nd Year UG students on 27th January and 3rd February 2026 under the topic of ‘Dancing Bodies, Global Cultures’ at the Dept of Drama, Theatre and Dance, Royal Holloway UoL, Egham.
2025
- Kathy will give a 3-hour Introduction to Chinese Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera to MA students on 19th November 2025, at the Department of Theatre and Performance, MA World Theatre, Goldsmiths, University of London, New Cross.
- Kunqu and Jingju Opera Dan Folding Fan and Watersleeves Movement classes for 1- 2 students per 70-min class in mirrored studio in Wimbledon any day of the week. Cost enquiries welcome via Contact Us page.
- Special programme 2025-2026 -The Art of Mei Lanfang 130th Anniversary Celebration A 100-120min presentation covering Mei Lanfang’s lifetime of innovations and achievements, including his most represenative scenes in Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera in demo-performances by Kathy Hall. - Towards Understanding Jingju and Kunqu Opera: Lecture with demonstration-performances and optional workshop (1.5 to 3 hours) with PPT, AV and part costume and hand-props for all ages. Enquiries and bookings welcome.
- One-to-one in-person Jingju and Kunqu opera lessons in Wimbledon. Classes for singing and/or movements are for all ages and levels. One-off ‘Taster’ lesson available at a discounted price.
- Movements only one-to-one in-person lessons are available for watersleeves水袖, round/palace fan团扇, folding fan折扇, ‘cloud-sweeper’云帚, long waist-sash长腰巾, ‘horse-whip’马鞭 , silk fan绸扇 or hand gestures only手指法两套. Each movement set is around 5 minutes and can be taught in 4 to 8 one-hour or 70-minute lessons.
- Chinese Opera Make-up Workshops (with full stage make-up, head-dresses and costumes) for individuals or small groups on requests.
- Storytelling of traditional myths and legends, some relating to Chinese Opera stories, suitable for children of all ages. This could lead onto workshops of movements, or design and colouring of printed or 3D masks to suit the age groups.
