Chinese Opera Folding Fan 戏曲折扇 Movements for beginners and improvers      Presented by SOAS Jing-Kun Chinese Opera Society at SOAS, WC1H 0XG                          Day: 6 Saturdays                                                                                                                                Dates & time: August 3 – 3pm-5pm; August 10, 17, 24, 31 and September 7 -2pm-4pm            Course fees including printed course materials: £90; £67 (students)                                Location: SOAS Main Building (room number will be given on registration with Kathy)    Class requirements: one Chinese opera paper folding-fan with minimum 30 fan sticks and 26/27 cm length, and flat, thin soft-sole shoes (like ballet shoes) or just wear socks Instructor: Kathy Hall                                                                                                                  Enquiry and registration: Kathy 07711 654663.

Chinese Kunqu opera performance course (acting and singing): 6 x 2-hour lessons: will be on Saturdays 2pm-4pm, September 14 to October 19.                                                              Course fees including printed course materials: £90; £67 (students)                        Selections to be learnt will be from song/tune-titles (qupai 曲牌) from In Pursuit of the Dream from The Peony Pavilion 〈牡丹亭-寻梦〉by Tang Xianzu of the Ming Dynasty    Requirements: one Chinese opera paper folding-fan with minimum 30 fan sticks and 26/27 cm length; one watersleeves practice jacket (short), bought or hired; and flat, thin soft-sole shoes or just wear socks.
